Why should I participate in Arab StarPack ?
By participating at Arab StarPack, you will have the opportunity to be recognized regionally. In addition to the experience, visibility, prizes gained, winners will be automatically qualified to participate in WorldStar competition organized by the World Packaging Organization (WPO), granting winning projects international visibility as well.
Can I apply if I am freelancer or graduate student?
The competition is addressed only for Arab University Students currently enrolled in the faculties of Graphic Design, Product Design, Packaging, Industrial Engineering, Food Engineering or other related studies. Therefore graduate or professional designers can not participate in this competition.
How do I apply to the competition?
You should access Arab StarPack Website www.arabstarpack.org and submit your application online. Applications cannot be sent by emails or through other channels. Only online application will be qualified to the competition.
What are the categories of Arab StarPack?
There are 4 categories: Visual Category, Structural Category, Smart Packaging Waste Category and Save the Food Category.
Can I work on the four categories?
You may work on the four categories through different applications. A student is eligible to submit several applications to several categories.
Can you give more information on the Save the food Category?
It is a new category suggested by the WPO (World Packaging Organization). Save the food category falls under the structural category and it has a similar judging criterion. However under this category students should select food or agricultural products only whereas in the structural category they may choose any products such as cosmetics or any other industrial product. Furthermore, in this category students should work on suggesting packaging that save the food and prevent its waste or even extend the shelf life of the product.
Can we work as a group and apply for the competition in one application?
An application is linked to one student only: Two students or more cannot collaborate and submit one application. It is not a group work project. However, two students can collaborate to present 2 applications for two categories for the same product; for example one student can apply for the visual category and the other student can submit a different application for the structural category or the food safety category of the same selected product.
Can I Choose to work on an international product (like Coca Cola, Lindt, Persil...)?
The Nationality of the student and the selected product should be the same. Students should select their national products to work on their packaging. For example Egyptian students should work on products made or can be made in Egypt. Applications linked to foreign/international brands will be dismissed from the competition.
If my Nationality does not match the country that I live in, what is the product's Nationality that should be selected?
Foreign students living in specific countries should select products from their resident country (for example, Syrian or Palestinian students living in Lebanon should select Lebanese products).
Do I need to prepare Mock up?
All participating students should prepare a mock up for their projects that will be exhibited in the award ceremony. Organizers will handle and cover the shipment of the mock-ups in cooperation with the universities.
Can LibanPack support the students in the implementation of the mock-ups?
Unfortunately the organizers cannot support the students in the implementation of the mock-ups to avoid any direct contact with individual students. Therefore students are responsible for the implementation of the mock up. However the organizers can refer the professors or the students to some companies or printing houses in their countries that support them in the implementation of the mockups.
